Salary Range: $36.38 – $45.47 per hour (Commensurate with experience and consistent with UHN Compensation Policy)
Hours: 18.75 hours per week
Status: Permanent Part-time

The Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, a leader in adult rehabilitation and complex continuing care, is Canada’s largest adult rehabilitation hospital. POSITION:

The Occupational Therapist (OT) prevents, alleviates or minimizes dysfunction, enabling clients to achieve their maximum level of functional independence and facilitating their integration into the home, community and workplace. As a member of the Brain program within the MS team, the OT utilizes best practice to provide assessment, program planning, treatment intervention, education and evaluation to patients with an acquired brain injury; collaborates with team members in an inter-professional environment providing patient focused care; communicates effectively with patients, families, and colleagues; participate in program planning, development, and evaluation; participates in professional and organizational initiatives supporting quality management and research; supervises students for clinical education; ensures compliance with and commitment to patient safety responsibilities and corresponding hospital plans, policies and procedures in order to ensure a safe environment for patients; performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of Bachelors of Science Degree in Occupational Therapy (BSc OT) or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (B Level or C Level) Heart Saver Plus Canada (on employment)
  • Membership with professional association (e.g. CAOT, OSOT) preferred
  • Experience in acquired brain injury rehabilitation required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Ability to exercise sound clinical judgement and to function in an independent, self-directed manner
  • Computer proficiency an asset
  • Minimum of two years clinical experience working in neurorehabilitation
  • Clinical experience with neurological populations and or working with patients with Multiple Sclerosis
  • Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
