The Position
$17.50/hr, 20-35 hrs/week, seasonal.
The ranch has undergone a lot of construction over the last several years of growth. Now it is time to repair the damage done with heavy machinery during the construction and start building a beautiful landscape around the farm buildings. This is an essential component of our path towards hosting more workshops and agri-tourism events at the ranch. We have already acquired a landscape plan, and need a landscaper to implement the plan. Depending on skills and interests, the landscaper may also be asked to assist the Livestock Manager to complete some daily livestock chores, accomplish ranch projects and maintain equipment and infrastructure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Landscaping
- Work with landowner of the ranch to establish landscaping goals
- Read & implement digital landscaping plan
- Purchase & install plants that will thrive in our unique environment
- Install irrigation systems & irrigate plants
- Operate machinery or direct the operation of machinery as needed for earthworks
- Build rock walls
- Build fences
- Research and implement organic pest and disease control practices
- Direct other staff when additional planting help is needed
General Farm Work
- Install, maintain and repair high tensile and barbed wire fences
- Clear and maintain trails
- Pull invasive species
- Move pasture irrigation sprinklers
- Build and maintain farm structures
- Assist with basic livestock chores such as feeding, watering, and moving animals
Qualifications:
A successful applicant will:
- Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident and be 30 years old or younger (funding requirement)
- Have a driver’s licence valid in BC
- Have landscaping or gardening experience
- Have an interest in permaculture or organic farming
- Possess basic mechanical abilities
- Be able to perform physical labour in the outdoors in all conditions
- Thrive working alone in an unstructured environment
- Be self-motivated and result-oriented
- Enjoy problem-solving
- Be an excellent and direct communicator

Our farm is located 15 kilometres south of Hwy 99, down Texas Creek Road on the west side of the Fraser.
