Role:
The Warehouse Supervisor directs and coordinates activities of workers within the warehouse, shipping and receiving. Also plans, leads, organizes and oversees all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the warehouse. The following is a list of the essential duties and responsibilities of this job. The tasks and the time spent performing each task may vary as business needs require. Sysco Specialty Grande Vallee/EGP meat and Fish/seafood Company maintains the right to modify job duties and responsibilities at its discretion.
Role Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements departmental strategy plans for ongoing continuous improvement
- Planning and overseeing workflow for warehouse, shipping & receiving.
- Key liaison and leads effective and ongoing proactive communication with customers relative to all delivery issues.
- Contribute to the profitability and efficiency of the shipping and receiving departments while maintaining a high level of customer service excellence.
- Prioritizing product needs based on demand.
- Manage processes to minimize re-work, spoilage and theft.
- Ensure daily, weekly and monthly goals are met or exceeded.
- Analyze and research problems and provide resolutions.
- Train, coach and provide recognition to employees / monitor employee performance and provide performance feedback.
- Manage labour costs by maximizing shift productivity, controlling work hours.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to ensure that deadlines are met.
- Establishes / creates strong team quality orientation culture.
- Report statistical information as required to Management
- Ensure all materials are rotated according to the FIFO inventory method.
- Manage preventative maintenance program on Warehouse equipment.
- Responsible for employee discipline and timecard management.
- Responding and follow up on general inquiries.
- Ensure compliance of all company policies, procedures, safety guidelines and HACCP; ensure team compliance / safety.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
*In times of personnel coverage due to absence or vacations, the 1-up supervisor will be responsible for the continuity of the duties and responsibilities to be completed.
Qualifications/Skills/Job Requirements:
- High School, Post-Secondary
- WHMIS, Health and Safety, Forklift Training, First Aid training, high level of math
- 1-3 years of experience
- Knowledgeable in food processing facility and protein
- Communication and Language – Ability to communicate using multiple mediums with various individuals both inside and outside of the organization; is required to communicate with internal colleagues and third-party vendors; is required to communicate using courtesy, tact, discretion, and persuasion, where appropriate.
- Applicants must be fluent in both English and French to be considered;
- Judgment – Ability to use sound judgment when making decisions.

- Stress Management – Ability to manage competing demands and to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
- Customer Service – Manage difficult or emotional customer or third-party vendor situations and solicits customer feedback to improve service while meeting commitments.
- Quality – Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality.
- Time Management – Use time efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Health and Safety – Works in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations as well as Company health and safety policies and procedures; ensures the safety or workers by familiarizing them with the hazards in their workplace, is able to provide necessary training and communication to ensure a safe and healthy workplace; determines appropriate action beyond guidelines; corrects potentially unsafe conditions when observed or advised by employee’s of J.H.S.C. members meets expectations as indicated in the roles and responsibilities outlined in the health and safety policy.
- Food Safety/Security – Works in compliance with all applicable Food Safety policies and procedures as set out by the Company and relevant legislation including HACCP regulations.
