Job Details:

Position Title: Part-Time Professor

Status: Part-time teaching contract (1-6 hours/week)

Faculty: Faculty of Health Sciences and Wellness (FHSW)

Department: Nursing Program

Campus/Location: North campus; online and In-person course delivery.

Salary: Academic starting salaries are determined based on qualifications and years of related experience.

What you will do:

The incumbent will be responsible for teaching courses within the Registered Diagnosing and Prescribing Programs.

A leader in polytechnic education, Humber invites talented, committed individuals interested in teaching on a part-time basis to take the first step in joining our dynamic faculty team.

Knowledge of learning pedagogy, learning design techniques, educational technology and authentic assessment are required for curriculum development. The incumbent will teach, develop course materials and assessments related to learning outcomes, create an effective and innovative learning environment for students and will contribute actively to overall program and curriculum development.

Qualifications

What you bring to the role:

  • A Nurse Practitioner with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher degree.
  • Substantial clinical experience diagnosing and prescribing medications, with a focus on ethical decision making.
  • Experience in nurses’ scope of practice and limitations of nurses prescribing.
  • Specialized in prescribing in a sexual health, travel health or LTC settings is an asset.
  • Ability to work well with technology using a digital approach to teaching and learning.
  • Industry acumen and experience is required, along with demonstrated ability to teach
  • Specialized skills or academic training in nursing will be required:

A minimum of 2 years of teaching at the post-secondary level is required. Experience in a clinical educator role will be considered. Candidate must demonstrate interest in continuing education and knowledge of current research and trends in healthcare.

In addition, the successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
