Job description: Your Opportunity:

Make a significant impact on patient-focused health care as a Nutrition and Food Service (NFS) Supervisor at the Red Deer Regional Hospital. NFS is a provincial program that is committed to provide nutritious, healthy, high quality meal service to patients, staff, visitors and the community. You will have the unique opportunity to lead the Nutrition & Food Services Team. NFS Supervisors provide direction to front line workers and ensure patients and residents receive the meals required to promote good health. As a key member of the NFS team, you are responsible for leading and mentoring staff, managing budgets, promoting safe work environments, implementing Alberta Health Services and NFS initiatives, and contributing to the delivery of high quality meals. NFS Supervisors routinely interact with health care staff, patients and their families. Key competencies required for this role include: Ability to foster, build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve organizational goals. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, customer focused orientation and commitment to provide a quality service. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in staff. Demonstrated ability to implement change and handle competing priorities with minimal supervision. Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional verbal and written communications skills. The Supervisor position is an introduction to the operations management stream and could lead to other opportunities within Food Services Management.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a post-secondary degree, diploma or certificate in a related field. Experience working with Microsoft Applications. Experience managing human, financial and physical resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a Food Services supervisory role. Experience in a hospital or a long term care setting. Completion of safe food handling certificate. Experience supervising a unionized workforce. Experience leading projects and organizational initiatives. Experience with Change Management methodologies. Experience with the following computer programs: CBORD, Connect Care, Markview, E-People, iProcurement, and E-Source.
