The Paymaster is part of the Danone North America Payroll team. The person in role is responsible to process payroll for all Danone employees in Canada (±700 emp.). With a limited supervision incumbent, the Senior payroll specialist is responsible to executes the preparation, documentation and collaboration of payroll duties. In close partnership with the cross functionals teams, the person in role is responsible to develop and implement continuous improvement opportunities to improve the effectiveness of payroll operations for Danone in Canada.
More specifically here are the primary responsibilities:
- Responsible of processing weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for ±700 employees in Canada
- Responsible of the year-end processes and reconciliations
- Responsible to manage reporting, reconciliation and auditing of employee wages, payroll taxes, benefit deductions, garnishments and other payments assigned business units in collaboration with various groups including benefits, compensation, accounting and internal/external auditors.
- Develop, implement and monitor payroll operations standard operating procedures, policies, and guidelines for execution of Canadian payrolls. Communicate procedures to various stakeholders as required.
- Manage the delivery of key payroll continuous improvement projects
- Responsible for capturing activities of compiling payroll statistics, maintaining payroll control records, and special requests
- Accountable for payroll internal controls; ensuring proper procedures, policies, and rules are applied to payroll activities
- Responsible to process audit of payroll systems and report on a payroll cycle basis.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications and competencies:
- A minimum of 7 years of Canadian Payroll experience
- A certification from the Canadian payroll association is an asset
- Experience with administration of complex multi-site and provinces payroll
- Expert level proficiency in payroll laws and regulations for Canadian payroll
- Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles required.
- Understanding of American and International payroll processes
- Knowledge of the Ceridian Dayforce system is an asset
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Excellent communication skills: writing and speaking with the employees of all levels
- Very organized and able to prioritize his own workload
- Strong attention to detail with a mindset to continuously improve processes
- Excellent communication skills: writing and speaking with the employees of all level to provide good s and the ability to resolve issues timely
- Strong Excel level
- Ability to work within tight deadlines as well as successfully prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
