Job description: The Total Compensation Team is responsible for processing and maintaining full cycle, bi-weekly CDN and US payroll for all the JOEY, LOCAL and SALTLIK locations, as well as administration of our group benefits plan. All troubleshooting related to payroll are directly handled from the department effectively, to ensure our brand is executed with the highest level of hospitality and professionalism while also ensuring timely and accurate payments.

Reporting to the Total Compensation Manager, this position is responsible for processing full-cycle payroll and benefits for some of the CDN and US branches. A passion for detail, accuracy and customer service is a main drive.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receive data files bi-weekly for payroll (from multiple locations in Canada/US) and prepare files as required, balancing and processing payments
  • Prepares reports for the Operations team
  • Prepares and processes government payments: CRA, EHT, SUI, WCB, WSIB, etc.
  • Creates and uploads ROE files electronically to Service Canada
  • Responds to payroll inquiries via e-mail and phone
  • Manages and responds to all inquiries from many outside agencies and third parties
  • Works closely with store level Office Managers and General Managers to provide information and troubleshooting when required
  • Maintaining our benefits plan: enrolling/terminating employees, profile changes, reconciliations
  • Assist with other tasks and projects as required by the Total Compensation Team

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in the Canadian Payroll Association certification program and/or interested in obtaining the certification
  • Experience working in Canadian as well as US Payroll is required
  • Prior experience (at an advanced skill level) with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Knowledge working with complex payroll systems and HRIS is a plus

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize diverse requirements

  • Demonstrate an ability to maintain discretion and strict confidentiality
  • Outgoing personality with the ability to develop relationships with a broad mix of people through awareness of the audience and the flexibility to adapt to the environment
  • Provides strong communication skills within a team setting used for brainstorming, problem solving and creation of projects
