Job description: Your Opportunity:

This is a facility-based role where you will provide Outpatient services to the clients in the Ponoka area. You will be supported by the Allied Health Area Manager and Physiotherapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to connect with professionals in surrounding areas. You will provide clinical direction to a Therapy Assistant and may, on occasion, be offered the opportunity to provide clinical placements for Physiotherapy or Therapy Assistant students. This position is in the town of Ponoka at the heart of Central Alberta, located only 3 minutes off of the Queen Elizabeth II Highway between Red Deer and Edmonton. With approximately 6800 local residents. Ponoka is a fun and scenic community to settle down in with many recreational facilities including the Aqua plex with indoor pool, a Summer Splash Park, Trails, Parks and upgraded playgrounds, Mini Golf, Ball Diamonds, Soccer Fields, Tennis Courts, Arena and Outdoor Rink, Agriculture Centre, Farmers Market and the Annual Ponoka Stampede. Ponoka is also home to the world class 18-hole Ponoka Community Golf Club and sits only 12 min from the Legendary 27-hole Wolf Creek Golf Resort. Ponoka’s 8 km of trail systems run through the lush Battle River Valley and are connected to the Trans-Canada Trail System.

Description:

As the Physiotherapist I (PT), you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care. The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students. You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta. Additional Required Qualifications:

Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider certification from Heart & Stroke Foundation. Preferred Qualifications:

Current AADL Authorizer preferred.
