Under the general supervision of the Allied Health Manager, the Physiotherapist II ensures that the level of clinical practice in the assigned clinical service area is evidence based and meets clinical standards. The PT II is involved in the provision of patient care, general supervision of the support staff, orientation of new staff and students to the Athabasca rehab service department, program evaluation and development. This position is physically demanding and requires repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and or equipment. This position covers Athabasca and Boyle. Description:

As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services within a program or service area. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. As a Physiotherapist II, you will be responsible to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team where you will be an integral member, providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be providing coordination of the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will be participating in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will be making decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow and caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of master’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program or bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program and related experience. Active or eligible registration and practice permit with Physiotherapy Alberta College + Association.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Current BCLS Basic Rescuer certification. Effective self management skills and demonstrated initiative. Able to work effectively in an interdisciplinary environment. Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Recent experience providing physiotherapy interventions to patients in an acute hospital setting.
