Teck is looking for an experienced Process Engineer to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world’s largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to Superintendent, Metallurgy Development, the Process Engineer is accountable to issue feed blends and charge instructions, develop feed plans and forecasts, provide guidance on feed supply and storage, make improvements to Blend Management tools and providing support for process optimization initiatives. We require someone who is self-motivated, has strong problem-solving skills, knowledgeable in extractive metallurgy, and has a passion for continuous improvement.

Responsibilities:
- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Support the maintenance and continuous improvement of a Safe and Healthy working environment through personal commitment to the principles of the Trail Operations Safety and Health Policy, and ensure personal compliance with the specific Safety & Health System responsibilities
- Use modelling and simulation tools to develop daily feed blends for front-end operating plants; maximizing value within metallurgical constraints. Provide guidance to operations regarding feed and inventory management
- Develop four-month rolling feed forecasts summarizing planned feeds and key metallurgical information
- Coordinate the treatment of secondary process and waste materials through Trail Operation metallurgical processes
- Monitor and report on feed blending process indicators, and recommend improvements to blending strategies
- Provide guidance to logistics teams regarding feed deliveries and priorities. Determine storage locations for incoming feeds
- Develop sampling and assay strategies for materials to improve feed blends and value
- Review metallurgical feed constraints to identify opportunities for margin improvement. Evaluate solutions and recommend improvement projects. Support development and implementation of solutions
- Support other process optimization initiatives and feed assessment activities as required
- Collaborate and facilitate exchange of information and expertise with other Trail Operations groups to develop and execute feed charges and plans
Qualifications:
- University degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering or related field strongly preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Applicants need to be eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. (“EGBC”) as this will be a condition of employment. Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
- Minimum of 4 years’ working experience in metallurgical or chemical Industry
- Practical and theoretical knowledge of pyro-, hydro- or electro-metallurgical processes and related technologies
- Good data and statistical analysis skills; experience with Power BI, Python and Statistics software considered an asset
- Experience with HSC and metallurgical simulation software considered an asset
- Good project management skills; experience with MS Project an asset
- Good critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication skills including verbal, written and presentation skills
- Proven ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-based environment
- Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills

Salary Range: $101,000 – $125,000
This role is eligible to hire up to a Senior level candidate.
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
Please note this role does require the successful candidate to live within 100KM of Trail, British Columbia. Relocation assistance will be offered however there is no camp or company housing.
