Job description: Deco Automotive, located in Rexdale and Brampton, Ontario is an automotive parts manufacturing facility that produces structural automotive components for Original Equipment Manufacturers (“OEM”) including BMW, Chrysler, Ford, General Motors, and Toyota/Lexus. Deco Automotives’ capabilities include; Stamping, Hydroforming, CNC Machining, E Coating, Steel and Aluminum Weld Assembly. We are certified in ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001.

DESCRIPTION:

To champion continuous improvement initiatives such as cycle time, scrap, and downtime reduction in CNC area. Responsible for optimizing tool and fixture designs, establishing CNC programs, and trouble shooting issues in the equipment. Support launch initiatives, engineering changes, VAVE activities and quality fast response meetings. Participate in the development of PFMEA’s, process flows, work instructions and understand the product GD&T.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Five years experience in the automotive industry.
  • Degree in engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Working Knowledge of MRP.
  • Ability to manage the acquisition of raw material through to the production and shipment of finished goods.

RESPONSIBILITIES / EFFORTS / WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Responsible to drive and understand customer specifications, both corporate and plan and applies Deco standards for use in all aspects of mechanical designs.
  • Responsible to support production personnel in root cause analysis and problem resolution of production quality and cost challenges.
  • Responsible to estimate content and labor costs for proposals and engineering change quotes.
  • Responsible to assign, follow-up and approve vendor work requirements throughout design phase.
  • Responsible to follow-up and ensure vendor progress that meets or exceeds project timing.
  • Responsible for analyzing scope of work during pre-award phase and to assist in development of manpower plan requirements to complete project within time constraints defined in the project timeline.
  • Responsible to give updates to project team including cost projections as engineering changes occur during the life cycle of the project.
  • Responsible to work with customer to finalize design requirements, reviews and approvals throughout design phase. Responsible for Installation Risk Assessment, Safety & CERisk Assessment and MFMEA.
  • Works with the Ergonomic Committee to complete ERA’s on equipment.
  • Works with the Engineer Manager to ensure cross functional communication is taking place when there’s a “process change” that affects engineering and/or other departments.
  • Works with the Engineer Manager to execute projects
  • Works with the Engineer Manager to track and report project status, CPMP.

Works with the Engineer Manager to create project timelines for design tasks from critical project milestones provided by Engineer Manager. * Responsible in leading Cross-functional teams to complete PFMEA’s, Process Flows, Standardized Work documentation. Responsible for program management documentation – CPMP open issue updates and scheduling/leading CPMP Gate Reviews.

  • Works with Engineer Manager on build, integration and commissioning plan.

  • Instruct workers in safety, including the use of personal protective equipment,
  • Maintain proper housekeeping, recognize unsafe work conditions;
  • Administer first aid when necessary and fill out reports;
