Reporting to the General Manager, the Product Development Co-ordinator will primarily be responsible for the timely preparation and execution all pertinent information to quote and on-board new customers, projects or product lines.
Teamwork is paramount at Apex and in this position, you will work alongside other operational managers. You will gain and share product knowledge and technical ability to assist both internal and external stakeholders by working closely with Sales, Engineering, Customer Service and Manufacturing to fulfill the Customer requirements.
The New Product Development Co-ordinator ensures that day to day operations follows through smoothly by supporting in the planning, organizing, assigning and completion of operational tasks and functions. The program would consist of new product review for extrudability, fabrication and finishing to ensure compatibility with our capabilities. Additionally, the role will provide support for the continued sales of the Facades Lineal Program, including all accessories.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a new product development program that will track the process for large new accounts or new product lines for existing accounts.
- Tracking of customer account set up including credit, shipping terms, die drawings, approvals and sample approvals.
- Maintain updated knowledge of all technical terms, company product, services and capabilities.
- Calculate costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
- Review company offering with sales personnel prior to sending to customer.
- Ensure timely completion of process.
- Provide weekly project coordination and scheduling.
- Manage customer projects forecasting, new products and customer requirements, daily, monthly and yearly.
- Provide order status updates on different product stages.
- Resolve any discrepancies.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
- 3 + years of experience with estimating practices and developing costing and pricing formulas (manufacturing steps, and hours) in a fabrication/manufacturing production process.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing preferred.
- Experience with reading blueprints and interpreting schematics/diagrams to develop cost estimates.
- Good problem-solving abilities as well as a good three-dimensional conceptual ability.
- The ability to exercise good judgment in a variety of situations, with strong written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
- Excellent Interpersonal skills are a must as this position acts as a bridge for smooth communication between the internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective presentation, report writing skills and the ability to work individually as well as within a team environment.
