Job title: Product Manager – Agriculture

Job description: Our client seeks a Product Manager to accept responsibility for timely introduction of plant nutrition products which address a market need and represents a viable business opportunity. Supported by all departments, you will be ultimately responsible for managing new and incremental products throughout their lifecycle – conception through end-of-life. A key component of this role is ensuring that the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals.

Responsibilities include:

• Understanding and representing user needs.
• Monitoring the market and developing competitive analyses.
• Defining a vision, strategy, and roadmap for a product; prioritizing market/customer requirements
• Aligning stakeholders around the vision for the product.
• Prioritizing product features and capabilities.
• Creating a shared brain across larger teams to empower independent decision-making.
• Act as the customer advocate articulating the user’s and/or buyer’s needs
• Works closely with the sales, technical and marketing departments to ensure business case and customer satisfaction goals are met.
• Transfer of technical product knowledge
• Provides product expertise – understanding the reasons customers purchase products. Understanding the competition and how customers think of and buy your product.
• Develop the business case for new products, improvements to existing products, and business ventures
• Working with the Marketing Agency to develop the core positioning and messaging for the product
• Recommends or contributes information in setting product pricing to meet revenue and profitability goals
• Work with internal and external third parties to garner appropriate regulatory licensing
• Research and technical writing

• Domain Expertise: Knowledge of the market and product area.
• Business Expertise: Utilize a suite of business skills to keep the product profitable for the company
• Leadership Skills: Guide those within your sphere of influence
• Demonstrated success in defining and launching products that meet and exceed business objectives
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Subject Matter Expertise: Applicable industry or technical knowledge
• Excellent teamwork skills
• Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

Requirements:

• Minimum of 5 years experience as a Product/Project Manager
• Demonstrated success defining and launching excellent products
• Farming background with solid understanding of the overall agricultural industry
• Bachelor’s degree (Masters an asset) – science focus
• Technical background, with extensive experience in crop nutrients specifically for the broadacre/row crop regions of North America
