The Opportunity Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production General Supervisor will be responsible for and provide direction to a team of Production Supervisors. This role will be accountable for ensuring lines are running effectively and optimally within their area with a trained team in place at all times. You lead by example and inspire your team to deliver top results. You are passionate about safety and promote a culture where safety comes first. You thrive in an environment that is fast paced and have a keen sense for continuous improvement. Your approach is collaborative and offer a forum where everyone feels comfortable to bring forward new ideas.

A snapshot of some of the exciting things you will lead and do:

  • Provide direct leadership to the Production supervisory team.
  • Ensure effective implementation and compliance with all Health and Safety initiatives and programs.
  • Shall demonstrate full commitment to the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety and to processes which facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management.
  • Ensuring open and effective communications with other Production areas, QA Manager, Maintenance General Supervisor and all other departments within the plant to maximize production efficiencies.
  • Assist with the application and administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and ensuring compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Providing support to the preparation of the annual budget; and focus on efficient cost-effective management.
  • Department Champion for continuous improvement initiatives in technology, upgrading equipment/materials, purchasing, and quality programs.
  • Ensure effective implementation and compliance with all Food Safety initiatives.
  • Accountable for timely and accurate reports and for the operating budgets for the department
  • Accountable for department’s budget and building a strong team.
  • Understand and work with state-of-the-art automation (SAP/MES/SCADA/Equipment HMI).
  • Applies knowledge and ensures compliance with CFIA, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Environment, Health & Safety and other legislative bodies that impact plant performance.
  • Must gain a good understanding of yields and efficiencies through active learning on the production floor.
  • Maintain daily follow up on yields and efficiencies through financial reporting and follow ups on the production floor.
  • Work with supervisors to ensure standard yield/labor update work is completed on time and accurately.
  • Other duties as assigned

What you will bring:

  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience with proven performance management and leadership skills.
  • Relevant post-secondary education would be an asset.
  • Ability to work overnights, start early and finish late.
  • Previous technical sanitation knowledge would be an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, team building and motivational skills.
  • Well-developed English communication skills (verbal, written, reading)
  • Excellent initiative and leadership skills
  • Proven commitment to good manufacturing practices
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise effective judgment in business decisions
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced production environment
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Knowledge of HACCP and Provincial Health and Safety Regulations is an asset
