Job Description
In this role, you will coach, train, develop and evaluate employees. You will provide assistance in analyzing and solving complex manufacturing problems, and assist in obtaining resources to effectively perform operations in addition to the following:
– Nearly constant contact with others outside the work group
– Administers divisional and Corporate policies
– Meets cost, schedule and quality requirements
– Maintains Corporate and unit management control systems, budget and other information necessary to monitor performance in addition to maintaining safety and good housekeeping standards
– Complies with the terms of local and national labor agreements
– Assist in the forecasting of areas of responsibility and Establishes a course of action to accomplish completion of the job or project
Work involves a considerable amount of initiative in decision-making accompanied by a high level of independent discernment. Assists in the overall direction and coordination of manufacturing activities.

The Shift Leader Role provides a great opportunity to lead and be part of all aspects of the business. You will work to improve safety culture, empower and lead people, create partnerships, and lead your production team to achieve amazing business results, all while putting the customer at the center of everything you do. Time management, working independently, and organizational skills are a must to focus on and prioritize how to get great results the right way. Good interpersonal skills are critical when working with different members of the team across the Plant and the Corporation on projects, and ultimately cascading down to the rest of your organization. As the Shift Leader, you are representing the department you are working in at all levels of the organization. Such a role can be very rewarding.
Drive Workplace Safety System elements in the department
Coach, train and provide feedback to improve Group Leader performance
Prepare for and conduct Group Leader performance evaluations / proficiency
CAP creation and review with Group Leaders
Manage salary Time Keeping System and vacation planning
Attend and participate in Sub-HRM meetings
Investigate all safety incidents and review Safety Incident Reports
Responsible for safety, ergonomic and Workplace Organization standards
Drive GMS principles daily through leading and coaching
Check quality standards / alerts are followed. Coach and teach quality principles
Track and participate in BPD reviews at L2/3 and 4/5.
Meet daily production schedules
Manage scrap data for waste reduction
Monitor and Drive Budget performance
Administer Collective Agreement
Participate in Throughput Improvement Process (TIP)
Ensure Environmental targets are achieved for the Department
REQUIREMENTS
University Degree or equivalent
All Required Safety Training under GWSS
All required Global Manufacturing System (GMS) Training
Experience with Time and Attendance and Manpower Planning
Problem Solving/Continuous Improvement
Labour Relations Training
Previous plant floor experience in either a supervisory or engineering role
Experience leading in a unionized environment
Experience in plant floor systems
Strong communication skills
Experience in SAP
Experience in Engineering Change processes: TWO/EWO/PFC/PCP/TEB/PFMEA etc.
Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
