This position will be focusing primarily on our Reserve Power applications, which include telecommunications, IT, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), utilities and switchgear, security, emergency lighting and general electronics. Some of the reserve power brands include PowerSafe,DataSafe, and Genesis. Our extensive product range serves a variety of reserve power applications and consistently delivers the most effective, powerful and reliable batteries available.
Job Purpose
The Construction Program Manager is accountable for opportunity assessment, bid response and the flawless execution of awarded critical facility projects, ensuring that customer satisfaction and strategic corporate objectives are achieved. As the leader of our Construction Management department, this role will act as the liaison between all stakeholders of the program, both internally and externally. It is essential that the Program Manager has strong interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and foster collaborative teams. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of construction management, estimating principles and project management methodology. This position also requires an individual who is focused on delivering against the key pillars of HSE, network integrity, budget, schedule, and quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead a team of project managers, coordinators, site supervisors, and subcontractors through all stages of Construction Management projects.
- Develop rapport and effective communications to foster a positive and consultative relationship with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide subject matter expertise to customers, engineering consultants and sub trades to facilitate value engineering, constructability assessments, and risk mitigation.
- Participate in RFPs and design reviews; prepare or provide oversight in the development of detailed plans, tender packages, proposals, project schedules and budgets.
- Work closely with sales personnel and customers to determine requirements and make cost-effective and innovative recommendations related to the selection and application of Alpha/EnerSys power products and installation services.
- Ensure opportunities are costed effectively, schedules are tightly managed, and change requests submitted in a timely manner in order to deliver budgeted margins.
- Engage and oversee qualification of 3rd party suppliers in multiple disciplines.
- Drive a safety-first culture by ensuring all employees and subcontractors strictly comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental guidelines, best practices, and legislated requirements.
- Manage stakeholder expectations through regular project reviews and progress reporting.
- Mentor and coach internal team comprised of Project Managers, Coordinators, and Site Supervisors to deliver consistent excellence in the field.
- Satisfy the internal requirements for the development of metrics, reporting and forecasts.
- Ensure vendor invoicing and project percent completions are tracked to drive accurate progress billing, revenue recognition and cost accruals.
- Ensure successful and timely project closing through resolution of deficiencies, delivery of final construction documents, and final invoicing.

Other Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Education and Experience:
- Engineering Degree, Diploma of Technology/Construction Management or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in the construction management of large projects involving multiple elements and/or engineering disciplines.
- Experience working with multiple trades including electrical, mechanical, civil, architectural, and general construction.
- Experience working in critical facility environments such as central offices, headends, and data centres.
- PMI designation preferred
Skills:
- Highly organized individual with attention to detail
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, and mediation skills
- Exceptional English communication skill both verbal and written. French is an asset.
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practices
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications; evaluate constructability and recommend alternative solutions where warranted.
- Adept at incorporating multiple resources and interdependent activities into a comprehensive project plan and schedule
- Analytical and creative approach to problem solving and troubleshooting.
- Proven ability to budget and manage project financials; full P&L understanding preferred.
- Customer Service professional with a high degree of integrity
- Knowledge of DC power systems preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Outlook, Excel, and Word. Knowledge of Project and drawings programs such as CAD preferred.
- Ability to work under pressure and juggle multiple priorities to meet aggressive deadlines
- Team player who is self motivated and can drive successful outcomes with minimal supervision
