Position Summary
The Project Lead will develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives, organizational systems, processes, and practices. The Project Lead will lead a variety of process analysis and improvement initiatives including identifying the organizational need and analyzing the capacity for change and resource capabilities throughout the Surgical Services portfolio and for key Interior Health (IH)-wide Provincial Health Services Association (PHSA) supply chain initiatives.

The Project Lead will work with leaders from across Interior Health and key stakeholders both internal and external to the Health Authority including peer Health Authorities and community partners to facilitate ongoing collaboration and effective application of initiatives. Additionally, the Project Lead will develop briefing papers and reports, ensuring the timely and effective implementation of decisions and work on specific projects as assigned.

The Project Lead will liaise with PHSA supply chain personnel on initiatives requiring IH-wide representation and monitoring and serve as a central resource for collation of information on current IH PHSA supply chain projects, implementation status updates, and communication of high level risks to senior executives and other stakeholders as appropriate.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Applies knowledge and experience in process review and analysis to recommend system and process improvements to programs and initiatives within the Surgical Services portfolio. Ensures improvement initiatives are completed in a timely manner and result in quantifiable improvements.

2. Analyzes business initiatives and opportunities and provides feedback to the Network Director on the feasibility and requirements for the achievement of objectives. Maps out alignment with future direction and ensures initiatives are aligned with other cross-functional organizational and provincial initiatives and business/improvement strategies.

3. Identifies and promotes the expedited resolution to problems or barriers to enable successful project/ change completion and transformation.

4. Provides updates to the Network Director on the implementation and issues of key strategic initiatives; prepares reports, briefings, and presentations, researching elements as required.

5. Collaborates with department and portfolio leaders for a coordinated and strategic approach to the planning and implementation of strategic initiatives in the Surgical Services portfolio.
6. Provides key support for the Surgical Network to plan and execute strategic planning sessions, education days, and larger stakeholder engagement sessions as needed. Develops and implements communication materials and plans for dissemination to internal stakeholders in Surgical Services.

7. Collaborates with departments to identify, develop, implement, evaluate, and report on the impact and outcomes of strategic initiatives.

8. Monitors, on behalf of the Network Director, program plans and operations, measuring progress towards goals and objectives and identifying key factors that account for deviation from stated goals and objectives, working with other key management staff on process implementation.

9. Works collaboratively with change and project management experts to ensure the integration of sound change and project management principles in all initiatives. Provides project management support and advice to guide the implementation of initiatives.

10. Liaises externally with others including representatives of other Health Authorities, the Ministry of Health, and PHSA leaders; supports and/or identifies opportunities to partner with other Health Authorities, regional entities, community agencies, PHSA, and private partners in system redesign for service improvements.

11. Leads a range of discreet projects; develops guidelines, templates, and critical activity pathways; and makes recommendations for action. Provides leadership support for IH in a number of areas, including:
a. OR inventory management – utilizes Lean strategies to identify and reduce wastes and improve processes/increase efficiency.
b. Analyzing consumables utilization and recommendations for streamlining processes and standardization in areas as appropriate.
c. Providing leadership on the development of internal processes to manage PHSA supply chain initiatives and requests and recommends system changes as required.
d. Consolidating information related to provincial reporting requirements for key project areas.

12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s degree.
  • Five years of recent, related experience at a senior level working within a complex public or private sector environment and experience in project management.
