Job description: We are looking for a project manager to join our commercial construction client’s growing team in Edmonton. As a project manager you will be accountable for the overall performance of the project including costs, schedule, quality, project status and adherence to company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage a successful team and help develop future construction professionals
- Plan, schedule, set objectives and control activities during the construction phase of a project in conjunction with the superintendent and project team
- Administration and management of prime contract and subcontracts including negotiation and awarding of subcontracts for scopes of work as well as review and evaluation of subcontractor performance
- Supervision and development of project team members through regular feedback, training, coaching and completion of performance evaluations.
- Manage project budget and billings working with accounting to ensure timely payment of A/R and A/P
- Review and analysis of costs and identify revenue opportunities.
- Monthly and quarterly reporting to senior management on financial and overall performance of project
- Foster and maintain positive relations with clients, consultants, architects and subcontractors.
- Provide safety leadership and monitoring safety performance of project team and subcontractors
Qualifications:
- Institutional/commercial construction background
- Completed education in a construction-related discipline
- Demonstrated, progressive experience in general contracting; direct project management of institutional or commercial projects
- Experience mentoring/developing team members
- Service and results-oriented; able to build trust with a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors and team members
- Demonstrated competence in safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration
- Able to read, understand and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedule
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Project
