Position Summary:

BM&M is looking for a Purchaser to join our team in Surrey, BC. As a Purchaser, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the purchasing process, including ordering, purchasing, supplier management, shipping, and inventory. This is a part-time role, reporting 3 days per week, 8 hours per day.

What you’ll do:

Purchase items according to the demand list.

Collaborate with the Operations team to manage Supply Chain and inventory.

Provide a reliable daily schedule of delivery dates and shop capacity.

Provide visibility of delivery dates of critical items.

Collaborate with the Finance, Sales, Engineering, and Production departments to manage their expectations.

Provide and regularly update budget hours for work cycle planning.

Assist in work cycle costing audits.

Identify and participate in opportunities for improvement.

Provide a sorted daily demand list of required items for purchasing, and by work cell.

Possibility of travel, up to 5%

Basic Qualifications:

2 + years of experience as a Planner or Scheduler.

Detailed knowledge of planning and purchasing utilizing MRP systems.

Ability to perform and interpret computer and RF functions; Good working knowledge of MS Office

Critical thinking, able to improve and streamline processes.

Effective at pro-active communication; an ability to accurately and timely communicate with suppliers.

Good knowledge of the workflow between Sales, Purchasing, Planning, and production.

Friendly, collaborative, optimistic, enthusiastic, willing to learn new skills.

Team player with good communication skills; Quick learner with the ability to secure new skills in a fast-paced based department.

Willingness to work a flexible schedule based upon business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with shift work, work-cells, and a flexible work force.

Experience ranking suppliers and mitigating risk in the supply chain.

Accurate, confident, experienced in dealing with shop leaders.
