Treasury Board and Finance, Edmonton – Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA) is responsible for the collection of revenue and the administration of Alberta’s tax, revenue and related benefit programs. The focus of our organization is to ensure a fair, efficient and effective provincial tax and revenue system.

The Recoveries teams in TRA, provides collection services to Alberta Government Ministries. Includes management of contracts with private collection agencies; agency compliance audits, CRA Refund Set-off, in-house collection services for highly sensitive portfolios and paralegal services involving legal and enforcement actions.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, the Recoveries Administrator provides leadership, support, direction and consultation to staff responsible for the delivery of administrative, legal and financial support services. As well, this position is responsible for goal setting and performance management for the Recoveries Coordinators, providing direction, assistance and information to program staff and extensive liaising with designated contacts within Court Services and other stakeholders.

In this role, the Recoveries Administrator will:

  • Supervision of Recoveries Coordinators
  • Provide technical knowledge and administrative support to the program
  • Ensure effective inventory controls are in place for accurate file processing
  • Review and approve all payment memos prepared daily for designated court jurisdictions
  • Ensure payments are accurately allocated to the appropriate fine, tickets or forfeitures
  • Liaise with various courthouses to resolve payment allocation issues, overpayments, transfer requests and re-creation of purged tickets in Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) and complete any necessary adjustments in case management system
  • Load payments/new files into the case management system
  • Coordinate file closures and perform monthly reconciliation
  • Oversee registration of accounts to Canada Revenue Agency for the Refund Set-Off (RSO) program
  • Update and maintain RSO records and initiate refunds when necessary
  • Recommend and prioritize automation ideas to Recoveries Management
  • Assist in testing and implementation of the new system updates

The successful candidate will have the ability to develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and be able to analyze a variety of information.

Qualifications

The following qualifications are required:

  • A one-year certificate or diploma in business administrator or a related field supplemented with a minimum 2 years related experience
  • Supervisory experience leading a team in the delivery of administrative functions

Directly related education or experience considered based on:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

This is a permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
