Job description: The Regional Community Network Coordinator is responsible for the liaison with key stakeholders and logistical coordination and planning in a designated health region to support the implementation of the Trans Care BC program’s strategic goals of enhancing health services in three key areas: Primary Care, Peer and Community Supports and Surgery. The Coordinator supports network and engagement sessions, gathers feedback and input related to the development and expansion of peer and community and health care provider supports, as part of Trans Care BC’s goal of sustainable regional and province-wide services for transgender, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people of all ages.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate and participate in the establishment of regional health authority-wide networks for peer, community and health care provider support and maintain the coordination of the networks to identify priorities and opportunities to strengthen equitable access to services and support in communities throughout the designated region.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement and action planning activities with targeted groups and health authority. Host introductory Trans Care BC educations sessions, as well as local health care providers and community advisory and engagement sessions to improve capacity building and knowledge exchange. Ensure individuals are invited; handle logistical coordination for health care providers and community sessions and meetings. Coordinate preparation activities to support meetings to ensure success of events and stakeholder activities. Provide reports to attendees and Trans Care BC Provincial HUB.
  • Provide a direct local link to information about, and connection, to the Trans Care Provincial Care Coordination Team for transgender, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people of all ages navigating the health care system, as well as accessing information and resources through direct engagement, emails, internet and community networks.
  • Assist peer and community groups and clinical services in applying for small contract opportunities to enhance peer and community and clinical supports in the region by providing general information on the grant process, needs evaluation, space rental, and basic guidance in completing applications.
  • Participate in providing information to inform up-to-date inventories of all health and community services for transgender, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people of all ages through gathering of information through engagement sessions, networking and key stakeholders. Provide community and regional inventory information to the Trans Care BC Provincial HUB about service delivery gaps, systems improvement opportunities, and educational opportunities for capacity building from engagement sessions, networking and key stakeholders.
  • Provide input in strategic health and community planning and evaluation that integrates with Trans Care BC’s program plan and its three strategic goals to improve Primary Care, Peer and Community Supports and Surgery by providing feedback and recommendations from the transgender, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people living in the designated region.
  • Handle stipends and small budget allocation to community groups, peers and care providers as well as manage the budget for the regional network and engagement sessions, as needed.

What you bring:

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in a health related discipline and three (3) years of experience in health, support, or community services with diverse populations including transgender, Two-Spirit and gender diverse people of all ages.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Strong knowledge of the local landscape related to trans and gender diverse communities and services. Strong experience working region-wide with multiple communities and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience with program coordination, logistics and development, as well as experience with facilitation and community engagement.
  • Demonstrated experience in monitoring a budget for community events.
  • Strong collaborative planning and facilitation experience. Ability to engage a broad range of individuals. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in partnership with multiple stakeholders such as trans community members, community partners, First Nations, and local health authority.
