Job description: The Thrombosis Nurse Coordinator is responsible for facilitating the continuity and quality of care for all inpatients and outpatients referred to the Thrombosis Service (including assessments, diagnostics, treatment, evaluation, and follow-up); performing as a Clinical Nurse in an expanded role, collaborating with physicians and other members of the interdisciplinary team; providing nursing consultation pertaining to vascular issues; assisting in the development, implementation, evaluation and promotion of new protocols, procedures and clinical trials within the program; and communicating with patients, their families, staff, family physicians and other health team members.

Qualifications

1.Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse

2. Recent experience (within the past 5 years) in the area of vascular venous thromboembolic disease

3. Experience in coordinating clinical research trials

4. Demonstrated ability in patient assessment skills, teaching and counseling

5. Demonstrated ability with computer systems: OE, PCI, Exchange, Word processing and spreadsheets

6. Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, critical thinking and decision-making skills

7. Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly

8. Demonstrated ability to liase with a range of hospital staff effectively and collaboratively
