Exciting opportunity to work at Full Scope of Practice on a busy Acute Medical and Alternate Level of Care Inpatient Unit. The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the provision of direct patient care on Unit 42. The RN will participate in all duties and responsibilities required to care for acute medical patients, aligning with the patient and family centered care strategy. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team utilizing the Integrated Collaborative Practice model of CoACT. They will be able to effectively provide leadership to others, work well within a multidisciplinary team setting and have the ability to work independently. The RN on Unit 42 is expected to actively participate in quality improvement initiatives set out by the unit quality council. They will work in an organized manner as well as strive to seek out educational opportunities. Other unit specific duties include collaboration of care with the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and/or Health Care Aide (HCA) and other members of the multidisciplinary team. This position is a great opportunity to work at full scope of practice, to develop a broad knowledge base and a solid Nursing foundation as well as provide care in a Collaborative work environment.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour – $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management – Chapters 1 – 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work at full scope of practice. Strong communication and leadership skills essential. Demonstrated ability to work with a large multi-disciplinary team. Acute medical nursing experience required. Preferred Qualifications:

Charge nurse experience preferred. Minimum 3 years acute adult inpatient medicine experience preferred. Geriatric & Dementia experience preferred. Experience working in a CoACT environment preferred. Experience with Connect Care preferred. Experience working on Unit 42 preferred. Previous Unit 42 experience preferred.
