The Wainwright Health Centre contains a 25 bed acute care medical/surgical unit, 2 bed obstetrical suite, 24/7 Emergency Department, in addition to an OR, day surgery unit and cardiac wellness services. As the Registered Nurse at the Wainwright Health Centre, you will have the opportunity to rotate within the areas of acute care, emergency, and labour/delivery, allowing you to work to full scope of practice and develop your nursing skills in multiple areas, while working within a multidisciplinary team to provide family focused nursing care.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to function capably in a busy acute care, ER, and obstetrical environment. Ability to manage admissions/discharges and prioritize care needs for an Acute Medical population. Must be able to work collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Good communication skills and the ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required, with demonstrated responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence. Ability to meet the physical demands required. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in an Acute Care setting with Obstetrics. Certification NRP, CAM A, CAM B, LEAD II. Experience with Spacelabs/Telemetry Cardiac Monitoring. Experience in a Charge Nurse role. Certification in a relevant specialty area, and leadership training. CTAS, ACLS or equivalent, TNCC or equivalent, and pediatric building blocks.
