Job description: Your Opportunity:

As a member of a multi-disciplinary team, the Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. The incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties in accordance with clinical policies and nursing care standards. Registered Nurse required for the level III Surgical Suite, an exciting and dynamic 18 theatre Surgical Suite. Challenging experience is available in all of the surgical specialities including neurosurgery, solid organ transplant, trauma, burns, urology, plastic surgery, OHNS, orthopedics and general surgery, spine and iMRI. Responsible to provide proof of active registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) and to maintain registration throughout the duration of employment.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Current OR experience within the previous year in an adult OR environment with demonstrated scrub and circulating skills is required. Demonstrates excellent assessment, organizational and patient care skills with the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Strong interpersonal and critical thinking skills are required. Preferred Qualifications:

Proven leadership and quality improvement focused experience highly desired. Successful completion of Perioperative Nursing course is required or one year current experience in an adult operating room in a level 1 trauma centre is advantageous. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred; however, skills and experience relevant to nursing practice in the community sector will be considered.
