Position Summary
The Registered Nurse on the Medicine Unit (Soldiers’ 1) is responsible for providing direct patient care in accordance with the mission, vision, goals, objectives and policies of the hospital and the Patient Services Department.
Qualifications
- Current general class registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required.
- Minimum two (2) years medical experience required.
- Completion of Coronary Care I certificate within the last two (2) years or if greater than 2 years must have recent coronary experience and be able to complete an ECG interpretation test (Consideration will also be given to candidates with proof of current registration in an approved coronary course).
- Knowledge of Cardiac and Renal Care required.
- Current certification in BCLS.
- Successful completion of the Physical Assessment course.
- Preference given to candidates with Telemetry experience and IV certification.
- Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills, professionalism and respect for confidentiality.
- Commitment to develop knowledge, skill and ability to care for patients requiring CAPD and BIPAP required (previous experience preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to utilize the Nursing process while performing detailed highly technical procedures.
- Must be able to perform all the duties in the position description.
- Satisfactory work performance and attendance record required.
- The successful candidate will have a proven commitment to professional development as well as to the Mission and Vision of the Hospital. Demonstrates proficiency in written and verbal communications skills in relation to working with patients across the care continuum.
