As an integral member of Health Link, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing telephone triage in the provision of health advice and information to callers throughout Alberta. Health Link provides care and trusted advice, connecting people to the right care, by the right provider, at the right time and place. Through the use of clinical software, a variety of information databases, and clinical protocols, you will assess, triage, and advise patients/callers who present with varied and often complex issues and/or problems. Using your strong customer focus, clinical nursing, and assessment skills you will provide high quality and accurate health advice and information in a contact center environment. Description:
As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. PLEASE NOTE: Provisional Permit Holders shall be paid $35.87/hour – $43.82/hour. Upon being entered into the register of Registered Nurses, the rate of pay shall be adjusted to the rate of pay applicable to a Registered Nurse in accordance with AHS/UNA Article 25.02(b)(i) or (ii) as applicable. Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five (5) years, completion of the following free courses is required: CRNA Medication Management – Chapters 1 – 4 (https://connect.nurses.ab.ca/home/%2Flearning-and-development%2Flearning-modules%2F) and the NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification (https://courses.nextgenu.org/course/view.php?id=271#section-0) Additional Required Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of three (3-5 years) years recent experience in a clinical setting, including experience in clinical areas that require high levels of independent assessment, and triage skills. They will also require recent experience working with diverse client populations and clinical issues including young families and seniors. Interacting with clients over the telephone, Nursing telephone triage, and Mental Health training and/or experience is required. They will also have the ability to successfully deal with stress in a high call volume contact center, in addition, they will be able to work comfortably with a variety of computer databases. A minimum typing speed of 35 WPM is a must. Intermediate computer skills are also a requirement for this position. Preferred Qualifications:
A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred.
