Position Summary

As a member of UHN and the multi-disciplinary Team, the REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE practices in accordance with relevant legislation/standards, the UHN Professional Practice Model and the mission and vision of nursing at the UHN to provide compassionate, collaborative and competent care, while meeting the legal and ethical requirements of the profession.

Duties

• Contributing to the patient assessment process.
• Implementing patient care plan including performing and/or providing assistance of a limited range of strategies and surgical interventions.
• Collaborating with other members of the interdisciplinary health care team.
• Acting as patient advocate.
• Contributing to the smooth functioning and efficiency of the unit.
• Attending seminars and workshops to facilitate personal and professional growth.
• Performs the duties of the scrub nurse consistent with the job description as assigned.
• Performing other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned.

Qualifications

• Completion of college, or other approved Registered Practical Nursing program including practicum experience.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) certification.
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse.
• Completion of a recognized college OR certification.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent good problem solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
• Demonstrated good manual dexterity.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Vaccines (COVID-19 and others) are a requirement of the job unless you have an exemption on a medical ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code.
