Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs calibration procedures on gas monitors.
  • Learns to install, service and repair SPM cabinets and confined-space communications equipment.
  • Use technology to monitor multiple active confined spaces at one time
  • Work with a team to ensure continuous confined space monitoring
  • Use technology to communicate with multiple trades working in multiple confined spaces at one time
  • Complete all documentation associated with service in a timely and accurate manner and obtain signatures from customer if necessary and provide proper documentation for customer. This includes all inspection and repair documents.
  • Assists others including stocking shelves with clean, tested, and ready to use equipment and pulling, staging, and loading equipment onto trucks for delivery. Maintain work area and other areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Perform basic maintenance and care of assigned vehicle and/or trailer.
  • Follow all steps required before allowing work per guidelines and procedures specific to work being performed. Ensured that all workers have on the PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) specified on the permit.
  • Follow all procedures while work is in progress. Keeps visual and/or verbal communication with crew. Observe work conditions and maintains awareness of anything that could endanger the workers. Stop work when needed.
  • Conduct job completion routine and complete all documentation per procedure.

Qualifications

  • Must hold the following valid safety tickets: Standard First Aid Level C, Energy Safety Canada (ESC) Approved -H2S Alive, Confined Space Entry/Monitor, Common Safety Orientation, Fire Watch and Fall Protection.
  • Previous experience in operating CCSM/RCSM Technology required
  • Previous experience as a conventional safety watch required
  • Strong understanding of confined space entries required
  • Very strong technological aptitude
  • Strong customer service experience required
  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience in oil and gas refining plant preferred.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Hold a valid class 5 driver’s license with clean drivers abstract.
  • Proficiency in the care and use of all sites specific, facility and customer required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Trained in Respiratory Protection and Fit Tested.

Other Required Skills, Knowledge, or Abilities:

  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process, safety and quality instructions and work permits and Plant / Refinery Confined space entry procedures). Second language is a plus.
  • Have strong verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional ability to multitask
  • Ability to quickly grasp training and pass certifications to work in-plant.
  • Ability to operate equipment including atmospheric monitoring meters (O2, H2S, CO & LEL); radios and familiarity with plant equipment where work is being performed is helpful.
  • Ability to use Benzene Monitor and Norm’s Meter
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in an industrial environment.
  • Must demonstrate ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.
  • Ability to produce a clean or satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol test

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop and bend. Uses hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
