Position Summary
In this position, you will conduct both data analysis and research coordination for several clinical research projects in the Department of Medical Oncology and Hematology at the Princess Margaret. Our research focuses on patient outcomes and quality of life to improve cancer care.
Duties
- Coordination: You will maintain and update the existing Head and Neck Translational Database, working with other coordinators, lab managers, and abstractors to ensure the accuracy of the data. You will be responsible for coordinating data and material sharing within UHN and with other institutions/organizations. You will work with the Toxicity Coordinator to ensure accurate and thorough reporting of radiation toxicity outcomes, for use in future analyses. Additionally, you may be responsible for coordinating patient contact and data collection for a study of risk factors and outcomes in head and neck cancer patients. You will help identify and recruit new eligible patients, coordinating patient contact with research assistants, and managing databases for tracking patient recruitment. You will also liaise with the principal investigator and study collaborators to coordinate study logistics and report findings.
- Analysis: In this role, you will work with the PI, residents, fellows, and/or medical/graduate students to analyze data collected from surveys and patient charts for publication in research abstracts and journal articles. You will design statistical analysis plans, clean and prepare data, conduct analyses and report results. A solid understanding of statistics up to and including linear/logistic/Poisson regression and basic survival analysis is required. For data management and preparation, specific duties will include creating and maintaining databases in Access and REDCap, harmonizing and merging data across multiple datasets, and performing quality control to flag potential data issues. For projects on which you are the primary analyst, you will also help with preparation of abstracts and manuscripts for publication.
Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in health sciences, or related field is required; Masters in Epidemiology and Biostatistics preferred.
- Minimum one (1) year practical and related experience.
- Experience designing and conducting statistical analysis for health-related research
- Experience using Microsoft Access or REDCap software
- Experience using statistical programming language (R preferred)
- Project management or research coordination experience
- Experience with data management
- Experience working with patients or participants in a research environment
- Experience writing articles for publication in academic journals, study protocols, and/or research ethics board applications
- Strong written and oral communication skills, ability to work with and manage other coordinators on a study team
