Job description: Preference will be given to qualified regular part-time employees within the Part Time Support Staff bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.
Under guidance and direction of the Associate Dean, Special Funded Programs, the incumbent is part of the development team and supports the quality review, revision, and development of a wide range of CAPS offerings (I.e., Recognitions of Achievement, Micro-Credentials, Courses, Workshops, Badges, etc.). The incumbent devises and implements comprehensive and evidence-based methods for qualitative and quantitative data collection and analysis required to create recommendations and action plans for continuous improvement, new concept proposal analysis, and curriculum development. Utilizing strong proof-reading and rigorous copy-editing knowledge and skills, the incumbent contributes to the writing, vetting and review of important public-facing and internal documents, content within learning management systems, and other electronic interactive learning experiences.
What You’ll be Doing
- Designing a comprehensive research plan that includes appropriate methodologies for gathering and analysing quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary data for quality improvement activities (program reviews) and concept proposal analysis. Ensuring the data collected will support determination of program viability and sustainability and aligns with CAPS Strategic Plan and Sheridan Strategic and Academic plans;
- With guidance from leadership, collaborating with Sheridan internal and external stakeholders to develop a standardized, sustainable plan for quality improvement and curriculum development research activities for CAPS;
- Gathering and collating primary and secondary data from a range of industry representatives and sources (document analysis, Research and Innovation Team meetings, Stakeholder idea-sharing sessions, individual stakeholder virtual/telephone interviews, etc.);
- In partnership with CAP Support Staff, leading student and industry focus groups for feedback on key performance metrics;
- Collaborating with Leadership, Support Staff, Sheridan internal stakeholders to obtain available student College-wide performance and feedback metrics applicable to CAPS (Institutional Research, OTR, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, etc.);
- Contributing to the writing, reviewing, and editing of program review or concept proposal data reports and appendices. With guidance and direction from leadership, providing an analysis of strengths, areas for improvement, and recommendations for actions for continuous improvement and/or development of new CAPS offerings;
- Participating in presentation of conclusions of program review activities, concept proposal analysis, curriculum development to CAPS Curriculum Review Committee (CRC) for feedback and approval;
- Reviewing, revising, and editing program development, quality improvement, and other public-facing and internal documents for correct spelling, grammar and formal writing standards before submission to CRC, Academic Resource Committee (ARC), etc.;
- Reviewing new course outlines and any updates to existing course outlines loaded to Sheridan Academic Logistics (SAL) to ensure accuracy as well the correct input of all fields in SAL by Support Staff according to approved course outlines and standards;
- Performing user acceptance and quality testing prior to CAPS course or curriculum launch for content builds in the Learning Management System according to best practices and approved quality checklists;
- Maintaining a high level of professional capacity through professional development and continued learning within respective discipline. Responsive to recommendations, ideas and concerns and addressing/supporting these in an authentic and transparent manner;
- Contributing to a safe, respectful, and supportive workplace that aligns with Sheridan policies and procedures;
- Other duties as assigned.

The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following:
- 4-year degree with experience in qualitative and quantitative research methods in program and curriculum review/development, educational or training business development, writing and publishing or another related field. Equivalency will be considered.
- 2-years’ experience in the collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative primary and secondary data, synthesizing data, creating conclusions, and writing formal reports and appendices regarding findings.
- Planning and leading focus groups, collecting research data, and documenting research data according to best practices.
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office Applications.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of The Canadian Press Stylebook, The Canadian Press Caps and Spelling book, and the Canadian Oxford Dictionary.
- Exceptional writing and copy-editing knowledge and practiced skills. Experience writing, reviewing, and editing digital and print content (Formal reports, Learning Management Systems, social media, etc.) along with the ability to write for a diverse audience. Awareness of cultural considerations in communication styles.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat and Bridge) Content Management Systems (e.g., WordPress); Learning Management Systems (LMS); familiarity with HTML, and Cava as well as other design programs are all considered an asset.

Other Details
Campus Location: Davis (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus) once normal campus operations resume. This position is currently working remotely.
Employee Group: Part-time Support – Regular
Hourly Rate: $ 27.89 + 4% in lieu of benefits and vacation
Hours/Week: 24 hours
Hours: Monday – Thursday: 9:00 – 3:30pm. This position will require occasional evening meetings considering faculty and/or student focus groups.
