Job description: What is the opportunity?

RBC is a global leader in applying Artificial Intelligence (AI) in various aspects of banking in order to creat value for our clients; from advice center chatbots and intlligent mobile app features in personal banking to AI- powered algorithmic trading agents in capital markets. A failure to effectively prepare for and manage emerging model risk related to AI would subject RBC to unwarranted potential financial, regulatory, and reputational risks.

The Enterprise Model Risk Management (EMRM)- AI model validation team within the RBC Group Risk Management is mandated with quantification and management of the potential model risk arising from deploying AI powered techologies across the bank.

The Research Scientist (AI Model Validation) Student will be working closely with the senior AI-scientists and risk managers to further develop the bank’s model risk framework for testing and monitoring of Machine Learning models. The role will provide a unique opportunity to get exposure to cutting edge techniques employed by a leading financial institution in validation and testing of AI models.

What will you do?

  • Research and implement novel machine learning & statistical models/approaches across multiple industries working with cross-functional business teams
  • Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analysis, model development and validation

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

  • Progress towards a PhD or M.Sc. degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Quantitative Finance,
  • Proficient programming skills in Python/R and SQL
  • Familiarity with popular ML frameworks and libraries (Scikit Learn SciPy, Pytorch, Keras, Tensorflow)
  • Comfortable with command line tools in a Linux or Windows environment e.g. Linux (bash, Powershell, ssh, etc)
