Job title: Restaurant General Manager – Fine Dining

Job description: WinstonBrock Recruitment, on behalf of our fine dining client in Yorkville, Toronto, is searching for a General Manager.

Our client provides an upscale European dining experience complemented by curated wines and artisanal cocktails. Guests experience culinary delights in an exquisite artistically designed environment that is truly a wonder to behold. Equally spectacular is their outdoor patio; nestled amongst the area’s historic and modern architecture.

Start Date: Immediate
Location: Yorkville
Shifts: Dinner shift, Wednesday to Sunday
Compensation: 80K to 95K (including gratuities)
Health & Dental Benefits: program pending

Here’s what your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coaching an experienced luxury service team to ensure performance excellence via European service model of ten exquisitely prepared and presented courses
  • Building wine lists and beverage/food pairings
  • Motivating team members to achieve service targets and maximize incentive opportunities
  • Developing and training front of house team on wine and beverage knowledge
  • Opening and closing responsibilities, leading pre-shift meetings, attending management meetings, ensuring dining menus are prepared and current
  • Working cohesively and collaboratively with all team members; contributing creative ideas to further elevate overall guest experiences
  • Administrative support tasks; preparing & implementing SOP’s; updating reservations & POS systems, recruitment support, employee training, inventory, report writing, etc.

To be selected for an interview, your experience will include:

  • Upscale restaurant leadership with at least two years experience managing a team
  • WSET 3/CMS Certified Sommelier or equivalent certification an asset
  • Passion for food and wine with an extensive wine and beverage knowledge
  • Experienced in creating wine pairings for tasting menus
  • Service approach which involves interacting directly with guests; educating them about wine options/pairings
  • Ability to work day, evening and week-end shifts
  • Computer literacy; including Word, Excel, Inventory platforms
