Position Title: Retail Revenue Analytics Advisor

Team and Location: Retail Finance – Calgary, AB

Minimum Starting Salary from: $ 79,600/year

Position Summary:

Lead design, delivery and sustainment of scalable and insightful dashboards and tools, and accompanying analytical processes, to further enhance Parkland’s capabilities on accurate, timely and data-driven decision making.

Support the end-to-end design and evolution of Parkland’s suite of retail fuel and merchandising performance management analytics; this includes design and enrichment of data sources and reports to enable self-serve analytics across the enterprise, processes to ensure data quality and integrity, and deployment and integration of tools into existing business practices to elevate data into insights and decisions.

Support optimization of Parkland’s pricing strategies and tactics to deliver a differentiated value proposition, exceed performance objectives, and reflect macro / micro market dynamics.

Collaborate with fuel & merchandising teams and cross-functional partners in support of earnings, and advance initiatives outlined within Parkland’s strategic transformation project charter

Key Responsibilities:

Performance Analytics

  • Develop tools and other intellectual property to improve data, analysis, and intelligence on business performance, competitors, and market dynamics.
  • Define, implement, and monitor metrics, processes and KPIs to ensure both business performance and operational goals are met.
  • Apply data transformation logic to clean/filter data for consumption in reports, visualizations and self-serve data analytics.
  • Transform disparate data sources into compelling visuals and interactive dashboards to uncover trends and actionable insights to drive business decisions.

Management

  • Manage projects related to Retail’s strategic transformation initiatives spanning across Fuel pricing, Merchandising, IT/Digital, Finance, Operations, Supply and other functions.
  • Support design and delivery of strategic, managerial, and analytical frameworks to manage relations with large number of stakeholders and enable complex analyses.
  • Support design and delivery of projects under a margin performance mandate, working with teams and stakeholders across functions and geographies.

Communications

  • Support stakeholders at all levels of the organization on business performance and decisions, special projects, and evolution of performance optimization capability.
  • Drive adoption of analytical tools and interfaces with internal stakeholders through training, process design and KPIs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven success with database and analytical tools (SQL, Python, R, etc.), data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI), mastery of MS Excel and PowerPoint.
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in using data analytics to optimize business results
  • Ability to translate complex data into intuitive and user-friendly dashboard and reports.
  • Proven business and financial acumen, and analytical ability. Able to develop hypotheses on business performance, develop structures to guide analysis, manipulate large sets of data, perform technical analyses, and make strategic/tactical recommendations.
  • High-level of individual initiative and motivation, focus on quality of work, and attention to detail.
  • Strong team orientation, able to work with a diverse team based in a field and corporate environment, while being able to work autonomously on projects and initiatives.
  • Strong work experience, demonstrating analytical, financial, consultative, and communication skills, a proven record of positive business results, and an increasing level of responsibility.
  • Desire to develop intellectual property in the form of re-usable tools / information / analytical techniques. “One and done” attitude when performing analysis, striving to eliminate risk of re-work or other inefficiencies.
  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, computer science, engineering, or related disciplines.
  • Accounting designation (CA) or a postgraduate degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Data Science, Management Analytics, or related fields is an asset.
  • Bilingualism (French and English), oral and written, is an asset.
  • Experience in retail fuel, or downstream oil and gas is an asset.
