Required
- Must be a graduate of a Diploma or Degree Nursing Program and hold a current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current knowledge and skills in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing / Mental Health Act.
- Recent related experience in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing.
- Enrolled in degree program or willing to commit to enrollment – Psychiatric Nursing or Psychology
- Must have demonstrated leadership skills to assume charge responsibility.
- Must have satisfactory work performance in present position.
- Must have previous proven good attendance record
- Capable of coping with a demanding workload.
- Must be available for all shifts.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in Therapeutic Group Dynamics Psychosocial Rehabilitation.
- Evidence of continuing education (annually) in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing/Psychology.
- A current CPR Certificate.
Desireable
- Canadian Nurses Association certification in Psychiatric / Mental Health Nursing.
Duties
- Utilizes the Nursing Process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care.
- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgment in assessing psychiatric/mental health needs and in planning, administering and evaluating patient care.
- Responsible for supervision of other members of the health care team who contribute to the provision of patient care.
- Maintains nursing records.
- Participates in Continuous Improvement programs to ensure a high level of patient care.
- Other duties as assigned.
