New-Life Mills, a division of Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H), has an opportunity for an organized, self-motivated and attentive individual to bring their skills and experience to a fast-paced environment in the role of Ruminant Technical Representative for Southwestern Ontario. This is a 1 year Full Time Contract covering for a Maternity Leave (March 2021- March 2022) with the potential for extension.

The Ruminant Technical Representative will work directly with our producers to generate sales on farm by achieving their goals both personally from a tonnage perspective and on farm as outlined by the producers they work with. The primary responsibilities of this role will be to maintain current customer base in the region they are responsible for and gain and retain new customers. The Ruminant Technical Representative will work with Ruminant Business Manager, Nutritionists, other technical representatives, and the mill to ensure that NLM processes are respected and followed ensuring best quality customer service both on farm and through manufacturing and delivery. Representation of New-Life Mills at industry events and by attending relevant symposiums / conferences that will provide benefit to New-Life Mills is expected.
Your duties and responsibilities will include:
- Working directly with your Ruminant Business Manager you will be responsible to implementing sales strategies to drive sales in South-Western Ontario;
- Provide regular market intelligence to the Ruminant Business Manager so that competitiveness is always being evaluated;
- Provide input on information that would be valuable on farm so that the nutritionists can build appropriate technical resources;
- Promoting and educating customers/prospects on the benefits of using NLM products;
- Troubleshoot on farm issues and identify solutions to support on farm goals;
- Ration balancing using AMTS software program, while working collaboratively with a central nutrition team;
- Organizing producer meetings and being actively involved at industry trade shows;
- Continuing education, attending conferences and/or professional development opportunities
The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience working with dairy farms
- Strong knowledge of Canadian Feed Industry
- Solid understanding of Canadian quota system including rules and regulations within Ontario/P5
- Self-motivated individual with strong commitment toward delivering quality service
- Personable with the ability to communicate well with people of diverse background and levels of authority
- Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
- Effective team player with strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills with a desire to learn
- Knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel most of the time and must have own vehicle in good working condition
