This is accomplished across four geographic management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient services including academic, tertiary, quaternary care and community based programs and services including continuing care, primary health care, public health, and mental health and addictions.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager, Mental Health & Addictions this position is responsible for a wide variety of secretarial duties and functions within EIBI – Mental Health & Addictions. These duties include, but are not limited to, work in the following areas: reception and telephone, computer applications, typing and transcription, staff support, program support, management support, client and community contacts, documentation and records management, research support, general office duties.

Qualifications

  • Completion of Grade XII plus graduate of a business, office information technology, medical office assistant, secretarial course or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of two years secretarial experience required
  • Medical Terminology Course or equivalent
  • Advanced working knowledge and proficiency with a variety of computer software and programs, specifically Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
  • Knowledge and prior experience in use of SAP software and Meditech considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Mental Health and Addictions programs and services within the local community, the Eastern Zone, as well as within the province is considered an asset
  • Adaptable to change and is flexible to accommodate the expectations of the position
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and also effectively within an interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including direct interaction with clients, staff and public
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-learning and continuous professional development
  • Commitment to maintain and protect patient, client, and personal safety on an ongoing basis
  • Commitment to confidentiality and privacy of NSHA patients and clients
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Salary Information

Secretary II (CL07):

$21.73 – $24.31 hourly
