Your opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Accountant with a keen interest in Agriculture to join the Assurance & Accounting team in our Woodstock office.
BDO is proud of its long history building longstanding relationships and providing exceptional client service to agricultural clients. Today, our professionals comprise one of the largest groups in Canada serving the agriculture industry and operate out of more than 115 offices.
Our relationships are driven by close involvement in the communities we serve and industry knowledge at a local level. Our Agriculture group is composed of dedicated partners and professionals who are local specialists and part of farm communities from coast to coast.
The successful candidate will own the following responsibilities:
- Efficiently prepare year-end engagements and tax returns for your clients in a variety of industries
- Perform audits, prepare working papers and financial statements per regulatory standards
- Build positive working relationships with clients and effectively respond to client requests and suggestions
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities with existing clients
- Effectively communicate with team members regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis
- Engage in training staff and invest in the professional development of your team

Your experience and education
- You have at least 3+ years of audit experience within the public accounting industry
- You have completed an undergraduate degree/diploma in Accounting, Agriculture, or Ag-Business.
- You have completed or are currently working towards your CPA designation.
- You value teamwork, client service, and quality in detailed work
- You display strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills
- You have knowledge of accounting policies and assurance techniques
- You have an understanding of and are engaged to learn more about the agricultural industry
