Job title: Senior Accounting Processor

Job description: Advantage Personnel in partnership with a leading global oil and gas company that specializes in subsea and surface technologies are currently looking for a Senior Payroll Processor.

This position is located St. John’s, NL.

In this role, you will be reporting directly to the Payroll Manager and play an integral role in managing multiple payrolls in Canada, with potential to be involved with US, Mexico and South America.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the ongoing activities of the multi-national payroll department, ensuring timely and accurate payment of employee base across Canada in compliance with Federal and Provincial legislation
  • Review payroll and signoff prior to submission to 3rd party vendors
  • Training and development to ensure cross training for coverage
  • Annual reconciliation and year end reporting of all Provincial governmental requirements;
  • Monthly reconciliation of payroll-related GL accounts and preparation of corrections if required;
  • Super User responsibilities for maintaining ADP payroll WFN platform;
  • Responsible for ensuring audit procedures are followed, and primary contact for all internal and external audits.
  • Implementation of time recording upgrades.
  • Coordination of annual merit increases and bonus.
  • Coordinating reporting for expats, inpats with third party tax consultants, and any other statutory reporting required.
  • Ongoing ESS support for our field offices.
  • Multiprovincial WCB reporting.
  • Support of annual employee tax forms (T4 and T2200) using payroll information and 3rd party software
  • SOX & Internal Audit support: respond to requests for information from each audit team.
  • US Payroll processing – backup processing

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
  • PCP certification at hire, if not this will be required within the first year.
  • Strong accounting background and ability to reconcile payroll related GL accounts
  • HR policy knowledge and ability to lead process/system improvements in collaborating with team;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office with a focus on Excel skills;
  • ADP WFN (Canada) experience, or 3 years ADP platform experience;
  • 7+ years of progressive full cycle Canadian payroll processing experience;
  • Payroll system implementation experience including project documentation and management

Optional Experience

  • SAP and GEOS systems experience would be an asset;
  • Time system Implementation and Conversion experience
  • US Payroll processing experience
