Your main challenges

  • Influence orientations and policies related to your professional area of expertise within your sector, and ensure the buy-in of the parties involved
  • Develop innovative approaches and systems and make sure they are carried out and monitored
  • Carry out various large-scale projects and mandates that have an important impact on the Bank’s profitability and efficiency
  • Interact with managers and different sectors of the Bank to offer expert opinion in complex files and ensure they’re understood
  • Understand business issues, identify stakeholders’ needs and propose strategies to help them carry out their activities
  • Participate in committees or special projects that require high-level expertise and represent the Bank in dealings with various outside organizations and agencies.

More specifically, you will:

  • Analyze and document the accounting treatment of new transactions/products and make sure they comply with current IFRS standards-from accounting to reporting of financial statements
  • Analyze and document new IFRS standards, help implement them and give presentations to the various groups concerned
  • Carry out ad-hoc accounting analyses and recommend an accounting treatment
  • Serve as a point of contact with internal/external auditors for new transactions
  • Help prepare/revise financial statement notes for quarterly and annual shareholder reports
  • Be a member of various internal working committees and act as an accounting expert when necessary
  • Participate in external committees (e.g., Canadian Bankers Association) relating to your field of expertise
  • Carry out a comparative analysis (benchmark) of financial statements for the industry and other banks on various topics (new standards/transactions)
  • Stay up to date on new normative developments
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and 8 years of relevant experience, OR a master’s degree in a related field and 4 years of relevant experience, OR a university certificate/an undergraduate diploma from the National Bank University Program and 8 years of relevant experience
  • CPA accounting designation; mandatory
  • Experience in an accounting firm; an asset
  • Relevant expertise in IFRS standards
  • Relevant experience in an advisory role as a financial partner
  • Relevant experience analyzing transactions (financial statements, reading of contracts, etc.)
  • Relevant experience in business acquisition transactions
  • Experience writing quarterly and annual financial reports and other public communications
  • Teamwork and cooperation skills
  • Good analytical and synthesizing skills, especially in complex situations
  • Willingness to offer quick and efficient service to clients
  • Attention to detail, resourcefulness and initiative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Bilingualism, spoken and written (English and French)
