Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Who we are: We are responsible for designing, developing and implementing IT solutions. Working collaboratively with our partners to deliver highly effective IT Program management services and projects that are delivered on schedule, on budget and on scope, and incorporate change management and benefits management. Our Digital Strategy provides oversight of our shared digital mandate and strategic roadmap for the Region of Peel. Our mandate is to provide engaging and seamless resident and employee service experiences through sustainable and integrated business and technology modernization.

What you will do in this role:

Our IT Solutions team is growing and needs experienced & collaborative individuals to support our Digital Transformation projects at Peel.

As a Business Analyst, you will act as an integrator, facilitator and technical specialist providing analytical capabilities to IT projects and initiatives of all sizes.

Working in partnership with IT Project Managers and clients, you will apply a deep understanding of business analysis to help stakeholders close the gap between complex, long-term business outcomes and their translation into the detailed functions and features that project solutions need to satisfy.

Through requirement gathering sessions, you will identify, define, and manage requirements and assure that solutions maximize the value delivered by a project to the organization and its stakeholders. You will support the business units in developing the business cases required for IT projects and initiatives as needed.

Lastly, you will facilitate the identification, planning, measurement, tracking, and reporting of project benefits to ensure the maximum value from project investments. You will conduct root cause analysis if the post-project benefits realization is going off track and map data flows and business processes and create conceptual diagrams or Statements of Work.

This role will manage the full life cycle of requirements including:

  • Identify sources of project requirements from diverse stakeholders and employ specific techniques (e.g., interviews, workshops, and prototypes) to extract and document requirements from these sources
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications
  • Identify any shortcomings, problems, and limitations of existing solutions
  • Work with stakeholders to prioritize and obtain sign-off for requirements

What the role requires:

  • Undergraduate degree in business management, finance, math, statistics, accounting, information management systems or a related field
  • Education and experience in IT, including developing and implementing technology solutions
  • Minimum 5 years professional experience working as a business analyst on technical implementation projects
  • Experience with Salesforce and with digital transformation type projects
  • Working knowledge of the waterfall and agile project and program management lifecycles and of their commonly used methods, processes, and practices

Skills/Abilities:

  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, including Teams, SharePoint, Visio, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to creatively help solve business and technical challenges
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias

Nice to have:

  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation in good standing with the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA)
  • Lean and/or Six Sigma certification or equivalent designation

In this role you will have the ability to work mostly remote. You will be required to occasionally attend on-site meetings based on operational requirements at the 10 Peel Centre Drive, Brampton worksite. Your remote work location must be located within the province of Ontario.
