ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
Your primary responsibilities will involve assessing intricate commercial insurance risks within the mid-market segment. You will engage in policy term negotiations and work closely with internal teams to create customized insurance solutions. Your duties will also encompass the management of underwriting standards, compliance with regulations, and the implementation of risk management strategies, all aimed at facilitating well-informed decisions and enhancing the profitability of our underwriting processes.
ABOUT THE POSITION
- Reviewing insurance documents for new business and renewals
- Conducting risk analysis (focusing on diverse and complex P&C risk, with an emphasis on construction accounts)
- Making prompt and appropriate underwriting decisions maximizing profitability
- Building and nurturing close relationships with brokers and stakeholders
- Acting as a subject matter expert and a mentor to junior colleagues
- Representing the company at industry events
THE REQUIREMENTS
- 10+ years of commercial P&C insurance underwriting experience at a carrier or MGA
- Experience working within the construction insurance space is essential
- Solid technical knowledge of diverse commercial risks, including, auto, property, liability and construction
- High attention to detail and a strong analytical mindset
- Strong communication and decision-making skills
COMPENSATION
- Based on seniority level: $100,000 – $115,000
- Comprehensive benefits, including education assistance, RRSP matching and stock options
