Job Purpose:

Supports Financial Planning and Analysis for Scotia Digital in Technology Finance ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationship and leverage broader Bank relationships, system and knowledge.
  • Responsible for accounting management for Scotia Digital which includes:
  • Ensuring non-paper-based Accounts Payable runs smoothly and vendors are paid in a timely manner
  • Monitoring central invoice mailbox and responding to vendor requests
  • Ensuring invoices are coded, approved, sent and paid on a timely manner
  • Maintaining and updating Invoice Tracker including inputting processed invoices
  • Maintaining and updating deferral schedules
  • Electronic 250A submissions in the non-branch digital 250A platform
  • Reconciliation of SMS reports for entire Scotia digital and investigate on any unknown charges booked in the transits
  • Responsible for Month End/ Quarter/Year End activities which include:
  • Preparation and submission of Balance Sheet reconciliation
  • Preparing software analysis for closing activities
  • Preparation and submission of monthly accrual report including requesting centersuite credit card/visa expense reports
  • Preparation and submission of EGL report
  • Follow up on pending invoices/ credit card charges
  • Preparation and submission of journal and reclass entries
  • Preparation and submission of countries chargebacks that includes making sure charges are booked in SMS before implementing the chargeback, connecting with managers to get approval and making sure charges are booked in a timely manner
  • Maintain and monitor software expenditures at a vendor level working closely with business partners to understand the software spend and provide various financial analysis as needed.
  • Maintaining and monitoring premises expenditures
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of Technology Finance in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conducts, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • Accounting designation (CPA/CMA/CGA) preferred with at least 2 years related work experience.
  • Knowledge of IFRS standards applicable to capitalization of intangibles (software development)
  • Solid business acumen and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication abilities to execute varied activities within tight deadlines and deliver with a great amount of accuracy and completeness whilst demonstrating excellent time management skills.
  • Good proficiency with computer applications including Microsoft Office
