Job description: Our client, a leading EPCM with projects worldwide, is seeking an experienced Senior General Superintendent to join their team in Kitimat, BC.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the purpose of this position is to oversee and direct the performance of all field construction activities for assigned areas in conformance with plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
Responsibilities:
– Visibly leads the HSE program and plays an active role in the development of the safety culture on the project, making safety an inherent part of all work performed, and aligning to the LNGC “Safest Project on Earth” doctrine
– Responsible for job site operations including all onsite activities of FCL and FCCL, subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and their representatives, and others as may be assigned within the area of responsibility
– Responsible for the field manpower organization to ensure the job site organization Is composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel, and ensures effective personnel utilization
– Directs subordinate General Superintendents, Craft Superintendents, and other craft supervision positions such as General Foremen and Foremen; depending on job size and complexity
– Coordinates Indirect activities, internal and external, required to support a productive construction execution
– Plans and directs the work activities for assigned construction trades in alignment with available engineering deliverables, tools, construction equipment, and materials
– Confirms that subordinate line supervisors and construction tradesmen are trained and knowledgeable of specifications and work procedures, that material is being utilized to ensure optimum efficiency, and that work is being performed in conformance with specified quality requirements
– Assists with the management of contractor activities in conjunction with contracts administration group
– Establishes, coordinates, and implements construction schedules, manpower charts, material, and equipment requirements
– Monitors the work activities schedules and manpower requirements to meet established completion dates together with optimized productivity
– Controls job site expenditures for labor, equipment, material, and services and ensures field operations are within the budget
– Responsible for labor relations and coordinates the activities with designated LP manager and/or corporate Labor Relations Department
Qualifications:
– Minimum 15 years’ experience in a similar role or demonstrated work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above;
– Craft certification, training, and experience appropriate for assignment scope;
– Previous experience as a General Superintendent for Direct Hire execution;
– Working knowledge of applicable local, provincial, and national codes and standards;
– Canadian experience a necessity and International experience is considered an asset;
– Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities for engineering disciplines, construction technologies, and job site management systems;
– Knowledge of complex phased construction project execution;
