Department Overview

The Platforms and Technology organization is comprised of several major departments and services supporting all segments across the bank: Infrastructure Technology Solutions (ITS), Protect Platform, Information Security, Commercial Platforms, Corporate platforms, AMCB & U.S. Cards & Customer and TDS. The mandate of Platforms & Technology is broad and includes all aspects of application development, infrastructure technology, cybersecurity, development methodologies, technology risk and application maintenance and support.

The PT finance team is responsible for providing financial support, analysis, reporting, guidance and strategic advice and decision support to Technology management as follows:

  • Proactive financial leadership resulting in achievement of P&T financial and operational objectives
  • Develop, manage and deliver an effective performance management framework for Technology, focused on key (industry standard) cost drivers, metrics, financial governance and standards
  • Deliver financial reporting of results and trends, including operational and strategic advice and recommendations
  • Develop, implement and communicate effective processes for expense management
  • Support and guide decisions on technology investments and organization transformation initiatives

Specific Educational and Professional Experience Requirements:

  • University degree with an accounting designation (CPA) or MBA
  • 10+ years professional financial management or experience in a large organization that operates using best practices and performance management processes
  • Management experience overseeing reporting, planning and forecasting functions, in a technology-based organization (preferred)
  • People management including leading high performing teams, communicating well and taking the time to coach and develop others
  • Demonstrated track record of leading process creation and process improvement
  • Experience using financial and related systems
  • Experience supporting large deals or vendor contract negotiations
  • Comfortable in a project driven, time-sensitive, team-based environment

Senior Group Manager, Finance – P&T Finance

Reporting to the AVP Technology Segment Finance, this role is accountable for providing support, guidance and advice to business partners on a wide range of financial, operational and management topics including recommendations to enhance the economic value and decision making process. This role will also directly manage, coach and mentor a large team of financial professionals. The Senior Group Manager, Finance will work with a broad range of stakeholders, business partners and other finance teams to achieve positive outcomes and value add to the organization.

Finance and Business Leadership Accountabilities:

  • Financial controller and trusted advisor to the segment Technology CIO and their leadership teams, providing end to end financial support including accounting, management reporting and financial processes
  • Deliver and present executive level reporting of monthly financial results, key metrics, trends, and risks/opportunities, including Monthly Flash reports and Full Monthly Operational Reviews as well as Special/Ad hoc reporting
  • Lead and manage a fully integrated annual financial plan and quarterly forecast inclusive of expenses and metrics relating to base cost vs project cost, capital, resource rates, resources (FTE) and cash/P&L
  • Perform annual resource rate setting and the monthly recovery process to allocate 100% of technology costs and effectively manage over/(under) to a minimum
  • Deliver reporting to enable effective management of all segment technology assets including quarterly asset impairment reviews
  • Implement and maintain an effective financial controls framework to ensure accuracy of financial results, adherence to bank policies and audit readiness
  • Leadership in the business evaluation of technology investments with alignment to both strategic and financial goals
  • Leadership to technology and business on trends and opportunities to reduce costs
  • Identify, define and implement financial or operational process improvements aligned to industry and/or internally developed benchmarks
  • Lead financial process improvement initiatives and new tools with the goal of decreasing cycle times, improving management level reporting
  • Provide accounting policy advice on Technology transactions and topics
  • Create and deliver ad-hoc analyses, special projects/reports and training as required to aid partner understanding
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all partners
  • Coach and train technology managers to build financial acumen and improve accountability
  • Participate and provide financial leadership on committees and working groups as appropriate or required
  • Adhere to relevant compliance, professional standards, regulatory and bank policies

  • Develop and lead a team of Finance professionals capable of executing with excellence and providing advisory support
