What you’ll do
- Lead and/or coordinate the evidence-based planning and design of complex, strategic initiatives, including health literacy, patient experience measurement, cultural safety and anti-racism, provincial stakeholder engagement and stigma reduction priorities. Establish detailed project charters, plans and objectives to outline timelines and project deliverables. Execute project plans according to project methodologies, ensure successful and coordinated completion of project components, facilitate consensus with stakeholders as needed and ensure readiness for project implementation.
- Track progress according to plans for patient experience and engagement initiatives and identified metrics. Monitor and report on the status of initiatives and major barriers encountered. Make decisions and recommendations regarding projects scope and related changes required to facilitate a successful outcome. Implement or contribute to the implementation of effective processes to assess project risks, identify risk mitigation strategies and monitor risk.
- Develop and monitor implementation budgets within the context of operational demands and environmental and resource constraints and use best practice methods to thoroughly monitor and adhere to allocated budgets. Responsibilities include reporting variance, planning and adjusting operations and/or staffing to meet projections and annual targets, approving expenditures and preparing summaries and is accountable for its own operating budget.
- Identify and manage key stakeholder relationships across multiple organizations. Collaborate with key support areas and stakeholders, including the leaders and staff across all BCMHSUS operations, PHSA Corporate partners, Regional Health Authorities and Health Organizations across BC. Negotiate/facilitate resolution of any impediments to progress and success with these stakeholders.
- Liaise with organizations, agencies and the communities to identify and document deliverables, including issue discussion and resolution, in support of efficient and effective execution of the initiative
What you bring
- A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or relevant health care discipline with a minimum of seven (7) year’s recent, related experience in project management and facilitating and managing consultation processes with a wide range of stakeholder groups.
- Project Management Professional designation and experience in fostering person and family centered care and leading community engagement is considered an asset.
You will also have:
- Experience or working knowledge of community engagement, person centered care, complex concurrent mental health and substance use disorders, quality improvement methodology and change management are key to the success of this role.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and lead staff.
- Ability to establish courses of action for self and others that are results oriented.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to present information in concise and meaningful ways, to facilitate, negotiate, and persuade multiple stakeholder groups with diverse views and experiences.
- Knowledge of current and emerging evidence based practice in standards and guidelines, stakeholder engagement and continuing education and adult learning principles.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action (2015), In Plain Sight Report (2020), BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019), and Reclaiming Power and Place Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women & Girls calls for justice, and how they intersect across the health care system.
- Supports team members on their learning journey, ensuring education strategy for team/department to implement Indigenous Cultural Safety at a practical level.
- Works collaboratively with appropriate Indigenous teams/departments to ensure ICS lens applied holistically.
- Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $102,938 – $147,974 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
