The opportunity

The Senior Manager & Agrologist, Agriculture is a highly specialized individual contributor responsible for the building and maintaining of the agriculture portfolio within the prairie region. This role is responsible for being an expert on agriculture lending and uncovering deposit needs.

This role requires specialized training and certification as an Agrologist and will support clients on services related to agriculture and environmental science and technology. Under the direction of the AVP & Agrologist, the incumbent will be expected to support Commercial Portfolio Managers to perform due diligence and structure credit transactions within the agriculture sector including assessment of crop seeding and livestock production plans, related cashflow projections, risk and risk mitigants, preparation of Agrology Reports, and Opinions of Land Value.

The day-to-day

Client centric. Deliver outstanding client experiences at every interaction and execute on plans to continuously build the client experience, in line with CWB’s brand promise. Provide full-service solutions for clients with the view to be every client’s primary financial partner.

Portfolio management. You will drive growth for CWB’s agriculture vertical across the prairie region including cultivating new relationships and growth of existing clients.

Sales activation. Act as a subject matter expert and conduit across the branch network through actively referring/cross selling to clients ensuring full-service opportunities are harnessed.

Networking. You will connect and establish networks with a variety of partners and clients to develop lasting relationships for you and the bank including participation at industry/sector events.

Risk management. Together with the commercial credit team, you will utilize your risk assessment skills to ensure appropriate measures are put into place and risk assessment protocols and structures are implemented, while balancing risk and reward within CWB’s risk appetite.

Foundational knowledge and experience to grow from

7+ years experience in the agriculture sector with exposure to farming technics, business trends, agriculture risk management, and crop & livestock science.

Developed network within the agriculture sector.

Proficient banking and/or business lending experience in an agricultural context and within the functions of due diligence, credit structuring, risk management, and ongoing credit monitoring.

Experience advising on more complex financing including syndications, M&A financing and cash flow structures.

Very strong influencing and collaboration skills with the ability to work across business units and corporate office departments.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.

Working knowledge of collateral security and documentation requirements.

Strong computer and business modeling skills.

Experience with banking and loan origination systems is an asset.
