YOUR ROLE @ MNP
Performance Expectations
- Manage a portfolio of clients while ensuring their needs are met and that relationships and accounts grow and develop
- Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the agricultural industry through interactions with clients, key agricultural leaders in the community and fellow colleagues
- Apply professional judgement when making non-routine decisions and seek guidance where appropriate
- Plan, budget, schedule and coordinate the delivery of various client engagements, with a focus on assurance and compliance tax
- Contribute to the development of new ideas and approaches to improve work processes
- Manage work in progress, billings, and collections of client engagements
- Develop a thorough understanding of MNP’s services, businesses and industry through training and experiential learning with clients
- Think strategically about client needs by understanding their business and key risks
- Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value
- Maintain high quality control by reviewing work done from other team members for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members
- Manage, mentor, coach and train team members towards professional and personal development
- Conduct formal, written annual performance reviews
- Promote regular attendance, balanced lifestyle and high standard of team wellness
- Attend internal MNP courses to further develop accounting and assurance knowledge
- Network and take a leadership role in the local professional, business, and community while raising awareness of MNP and looking for new business development opportunities
- Earn respect and trust from others by building relationships
Credentials
- Completion of a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- Minimum seven (7) to eight (8) years of relevant work experience in public accounting
- Strong knowledge of and experience working with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Strong knowledge of Canadian personal and corporate income taxes
- Understanding of AgriStability and AgriInvest would be a benefit
- Solid understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
- Experience working with accounting and tax software such as Caseware, Profile, Quickbooks, QBO, Xero, Ag Expert or Simply Accounting
- Strong computer literacy
- Strong communication skills
