Your role

Reporting to the Executive Director and Controller, the Senior Manager, CRTC Reporting and Financial Operations will manage all corporate finance deliverables pertaining to CRTC reporting and analysis, including; annual CRTC submissions, finance projections associated with CRTC license renewals, TM1 automation and periodic questions/requests from the CRTC, Regulatory Affairs, and/or Communications.

As an integral member of the Controllership team, during non-CRTC periods, the Senior Manager will contribute to the decision making process and provides professional counsel, advice and guidance in the areas of Controllership (external reporting, internal controls, process reviews, business systems and finance policies) or lead large controllership projects.

Responsibilities:

Lead the Corporate Finance Team in the decision making process regarding CRTC information and provide a high degree of professional counsel, advice and guidance in the areas of CRTC Accounting and Corporate Reporting to the Networks.

Plan and execute the annual corporate CRTC reporting exercise; liaise with the CRTC, Regulatory Affairs, and/or Communications, Network Finance teams and ultimately be accountable to meet tight corporate deadlines.

Author and recommend changes and updates to policies and procedures as required to address changes in the operating environment. Provide advice and interpret all policies, procedures and controls.

Responsible for key financial operations including quarterly monitoring procedures, analysis and reporting. Address compliance issues in a professional manner.

Lead and/or actively contribute in the implementation of various projects throughout CBC and within finance.

Supervise the work of the Senior Specialist.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with the following:

  • University degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or Commerce or a related field with a minimum of five years of relevant experience in Finance/Audit related positions. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • Professional accounting designation – CPA, CMA, CGA, CA.
  • Must possess knowledge and experience in all areas of financial reporting and accounting, IFRS standards, corporate policies and procedures, sufficient to oversee, complete or assist in complex in-depth analysis of any area, and to recommend changes to policies, guidelines and procedures and operate internal controls.
  • Familiarity with the broadcast environment is an asset.
  • Focus on quick analysis, problem solving and the use of good judgment in short CRTC deadlines.
  • Must have the ability to negotiate and deliver amongst conflicting priorities and resource pressures, resolve issues and manage conflict constructively.
  • Must possess good written and oral communication skills, and be capable of working effectively with senior Finance and Administration Officers and managers from other departments.
  • The position will often require the summation of highly confidential or sensitive information that may be used internally or externally, as such there is a need to be able to articulate complex information in a clear, concise and diplomatic manner.
