Reporting into the Director of Finance, your key job responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for public consolidated quarterly and annual external financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS
  • Responsible for preparation of internal financial board reporting
  • Co-ordinate audit work at head office for consolidated statements, ensuring all supporting information is available for auditors on a timely basis
  • Review quarterly/annual reports to shareholders (investor slides, MDA, financial statements, press releases)
  • Responsible for the Corporate office budget process
  • Responsible for consolidating budget and preparing board presentations
  • Responsible for the financial reporting of acquisitions including purchase price calculation and the fair value of net assets acquired (valuation of intangibles)
  • Responsible for the preparation and the accounting of Canadian and US legal entities financial statements
  • Responsible for stock based compensation accounting and reporting, including valuations
  • Responsible for internal controls for financial reporting for both consolidations & corporate office
  • Assist global controllers on the resolution/ recording various accounting issues
  • Manage, develop and mentor finance team
  • Research new accounting pronouncements and their implications on the company, including transitioning to IFRS
  • Prepare annual goodwill impairment test
  • Other ad hoc duties as required

Job Requirements:

  • University degree (commerce, finance) required
  • Accounting designation (CPA)
  • Experience and skills (written or verbal) needed to perform this job
  • Strong written and verbal communication skill
  • Detailed oriented
  • Ability to focus on the big picture while ensuring details are not overlooked
  • Knowledge of IFRS
  • Consolidations experience
  • Consolidation software experience (plus if Hyperion/ HFM)
  • Have experience dealing with people at all levels in the organization
  • General understanding of tax policies/corporate law/corporate/governance/treasury/risk management etc.
  • Be willing to get involved/hands-on in resolving problems
